Nitya Hariharan: CRASH – Cosmological RAdiative transfer Scheme for Hydrodynamics
CRASH is a Monte Carlo based 3D Radiative transfer code that treats the effect of ionizing radiation on an inhomogeneous H/He medium. It calculates the effect of the radiation on the gas temperature and the ionization fractions due to several point sources like stars and galaxies. The code uses a fixed Cartesian grid as of now and we want to introduce an adaptive grid to it that would allow us to couple this code to a hydrodynamics code later on. The talk will give an overview of the CRASH code.
