This project is supported by the Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern (Virtual University Bavaria, vhb).
Starting in the winter term 2001/2002 the TUM offers an international master's program "Computational Science and Engineering". For an optimal concentration of the competence in Bavaria in the field of Computational Science and Engineering, some lectures of the master's program may be offered by members of other universities working in this field. Particularly, this includes the Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern.
By providing online lectures and tutorials, a university spanning and innovative collection of virtual courses treating topics in High Performance Computing (HPC) and CSE shall be established. The range of virtual lectures is also intended as a basis for other universities offering or initiating master's programs or, in general, areas of concentration in these fields.
In this project, virtual lectures and tutorials will be designed for two selected modules of the master's program - "Introduction to Scientific Computing" and "Modelling and Simulation in Continuum Mechanics".
