  • Multi-physics, black-box coupling
  • Geometric multi-scale modeling (1D-3D, 2D-3D coupling)
  • Fluid-fluid, multi-model coupling
  • Fluid-structure interaction (FSI)
  • Conjugate heat transfer (CHT)
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Research software engineering, software sustainability


  • Doctoral project titled "Flexible Algorithms and Software for Complex Geometric Multi-Scale Coupling" (2018 - today)
  • Co-developer of preCICE, a free/open-source solver coupling library for multi-physics simulations with long history and users in several countries. As this project grows and targets users outside our research group, I am also interested in good software engineering practices, as part of the project preDOM. (2017 - today)

Other activities

  • Organizational support for KONWIHR (9/2018 - today)
  • Registered first aider / first responder for SCCS (7/2019 - today)

  • Ayman Noureldin is doing his Master's Thesis for M.Sc. CSE. A preliminary title of his thesis is "A Master-Slave Approach for Multi-Phase Fluid-Fluid Coupling of OpenFOAM and ATHLET". This work is in collaboration with the GRS institute in Garching.
