Alexandre Trujillo Boqué: Structural multi-model coupling with CalculiX and preCICE

Large-scale models of structures usually contain sub-domains that require a fine-grained, possibly non-linear analysis, while for others, a basic linear approach suffices. Therefore, a computationally efficient procedure is to perform domain decomposition to solve each part of the structure separately and then design a data exchange scheme through the interface that ensures convergence to a valid result. Many frameworks have been developed that incorporate this idea. In this thesis, to achieve such a partitioned approach with the FEM solver CalculiX, the coupling library preCICE will be applied to structure-structure coupling via the development of an extension to its CalculiX adapter, which can already handle fluid-structure interaction and conjugate heat transfer.

    Tim Bierth: Erweiterung und Evaluation von Zonalen Methoden in ls1 mardyn

    ls1 ist ein Projekt zur Molekularsimulation. Zur Verteilung der Rechenoperationen auf Prozessoren verwendet es die zonale Methode 'full shell'. Es gibt noch einige andere zonale Methoden. ls1 wurde mit einem universellen inteface ausgestattet, welches es für andere zonale Methoden zugänglich macht. Es folgt ein Vergleich zu ms2, welches ebenfalls ein Projekt zur Molekularsimulation ist. ms2 verwendet den Ansatz der Kräftezerlegung zur Parallelisierung der Kräfteberechnung.
