Studienbegleitende mündliche Prüfungen

• Studienbegleitende mündliche Prüfungen werden in der Regel in der letzten Woche der Vorlesungszeit oder in den ersten Wochen der vorlesungsfreien Zeit angeboten.

Rücktritt bei Praktika und Seminaren

• Hinweis: In den Bachelor- und Masterstudiengängen zählen Seminare und Praktika als Prüfungsleistungen, zu welchen eine vorherige Anmeldung erforderlich ist.
• Sofern vom Dozenten nichts anderes angegeben wurde, gelten folgende Regelungen:
  • Regelung bei Praktika: Mit der bestätigten Anmeldung zum Praktikum (d.h. für die in TUMonline angelegte Veranstaltung) gilt für Studierende, für die das Praktikum eine Prüfungsleistung ist, die Prüfung als angemeldet. Ein Rücktritt von der Prüfung ist nur vor dem Termin für die Abgabe des ersten Übungsblattes möglich. Die Prüfungsleistungen von Studierenden, die nicht oder nur teilweise am Praktikum teilnehmen und die nicht innerhalb der gesetzten Frist von der Prüfung zurückgetreten sind, werden als "Nicht bestanden (nicht erschienen)" mit der Note 5,0 gewertet.

• • Regelung bei Seminaren: Mit der bestätigten Anmeldung zum Seminar (d.h. für die in TUMonline angelegte Veranstaltung) gilt für Studierende, für die das Seminar eine Prüfungsleistung ist, die Prüfung als angemeldet. Ein Rücktritt von der Prüfung ist nur vor dem ersten Abgabetermin (für Vortrag, Ausarbeitung, Gliederung, etc.) möglich. Die Prüfungsleistungen von Studierenden, die nicht oder nur teilweise am Seminar teilnehmen und die nicht innerhalb der gesetzten Frist von der Prüfung zurückgetreten sind, werden als "Nicht bestanden (nicht erschienen)" mit der Note 5,0 gewertet.

Regelungen für Bachelor-/Master-, Projekt- und Seminararbeiten

• Bachelor- und Masterarbeiten sowie auch im Rahmen von Seminaren, Praktika oder Systementwicklungs-Projekten angefertigte Ausarbeitungen sind allesamt wissenschaftliche Arbeiten, in denen die üblichen Standards und Konventionen guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis einzuhalten sind.

Diese Arbeiten sind allesamt Prüfungsleistungen, und eine erhebliche, schuldhafte Verletzung dieser Regeln zieht zwangsläufig ein Nicht-Bestehen nach sich!

Insbesondere ist auf Folgendes zu achten:

• Eine Arbeit darf nicht nur aus fremden Quellen zusammengetragen sein, sondern muss eine klare eigene Leistung enthalten, zum Beispiel eine Beurteilung, Kritik, Diskussion, eigene Ideen, selbstständige neue Darstellung des Sachverhalts, oder Ähnliches.
• Alle Textstellen, Bilder oder ähnliche Elemente, die aus anderen Veröffentlichungen übernommen werden, sind zwingend als solche zu kennzeichnen! (Zitierpflicht)
• Wörtliche Zitate dürfen nicht geändert werden; Auslassungen ggf. durch ... kennzeichnen, notwendige Ergänzungen (z.B. grammatikalische) in eckige Klammern setzen. (Quelle ist anzugeben, s.o.)
• Auch Textstellen, die zwar nicht wörtlich übernommen werden, sich aber gedanklich eng an eine Vorlage anlehnen, sind ebenfalls zwingend mit einer Quellenangabe zu versehen.
• Auch wenn sich ganze Kapitel oder Abschnitte, wenn auch nur in der allgemeinen Darstellung, an externe Quellen anlehnen, soll diese Quelle in der Arbeit entsprechend angegeben werden.
• Verwendete Literatur und sonstige Quellen sind in einem nach üblichen Gepflogenheiten gestalteten Literaturverzeichnis anzugeben; dieses Literaturverzeichnis genügt aber alleine nicht, um der allgemeinen Zitierpflicht nachzukommen.

Regulations in English

Oral Exams in the Continuing Examination Procedure

• Oral exams in the continuing examination procedure (for example in bachelor and master programs with end-of-term exams in each course) are usually offered within the last week of the lecture period or within the first weeks of the lecture-free period.

Withdrawal in Lab Courses and Seminars

• Note: in bachelor and master courses, seminars and lab courses are examinations that require registration in advance
• If nothing else is announced by the lecturer, the following regulations apply:
  • Regulations for lab courses: students for whom the lab course is an examination are considered as registered for the examination with the registration for the lab course. A withdrawal from the examination is possible only before the deadline for submission of the first worksheet. Students who do not participate or only partly participate in the lab course and do not withdraw within the specified deadline, will fail the course and are graded as "not passed (failed to appear)" with numerical grade 5.0.
  • Regulations for seminars: students are considered as registered for the examination after the validated registration for the seminar in TUMonline. A withdrawal from the examination is possible only before the very first deadline (of the presentation, handout, etc.). Students who do not participate or only partly participate in the seminar and do not withdraw within the specified deadline will fail the course and are graded as "not passed (failed to appear)" with numerical grade 5.0.

Regulations for Bachelor, Master, Project and Seminar Theses

• Bachelor and Master theses as well as theses produced in the context of seminars, lab courses or projects are scientific publications, for which the commonly accepted standards and conventions of scientific practice have to be followed.

All theses are examinations. A substantial, culpable violation of these regulations therefore inevitably leads to failure of the exam!

In particular, the following has to be considered:

• A thesis must not only be compiled from external sources, but has to comprise an own, clearly defined individual contribution, for example a personal review, criticism, or discussion, presentation of own ideas, independent new description of facts, or similar.
• All text passages, images, or similar elements that are adopted from other publications, must be indicated accordingly! (citation duty)
• Literal citations must not be changed; if really necessary, mark omissions with ellipses [...], and put necessary additions (due to grammatical reasons, e.g.) in angular brackets (source has to be cited, see above)
• Even text passages that are not cited literally but are notionally close to an original, must be attributed with a reference.
• Also, if entire chapters or sections are based on external sources, also if this is the case only in the general description, the respective source has to be appropriately referenced in the thesis.
• Used literature and other sources have to be listed in a bibliography arranged according to the common scientific practices; note that this bibliography alone is not sufficient to fulfill the general citation duty.
