Topics

The seminar will deal with numerical methods, in particular with Finite Volume and discontinuous Galerkin methods, required for the simulation of earthquakes and tsunamis:

  • Propagation of seismic waves and tsunamis
  • Fundamentals of Finite Volume methods (fluxes, Riemann problems)
  • Discontinuous Galerkin method
  • FV and DG methods applied to wave propagation
  • numerical problems for simulation of realistic problem settings

Organisation

A first meeting to discuss the general organisation of the seminar will be on Tuesday, Feb 7, 11 c.t." in seminar room MI 02.07.023 (after the lecture in Fundamental Algorithms.

In that session, you should indicate whether you would like to start preparing for your seminar presentation during the spring holidays, already.
