Maximilian Fabry: Design and implementation of a flow rate solver for the V-Hab LSS simulation
The Virtual Habitat Life Support System Simulation (V-Hab LSS) is a MATLAB based tool for the design, testing and optimization of Life Support Systems. To allow a maximum amount of modularity an object oriented approach was used in the design of V-Hab. All technologies used in a life support system are modeled as specific classes, with the systems of pipes, fans and valves etc linking these technologies being named branches. The aim of this thesis is to create a solver that accurately calculates the mass flow through these branches using a Finite Difference algorithm.
