15:00 Uhr - Christian Jirauschek: Monte Carlo simulation of quantum cascade lasers (Institute for Nanoelectronics, TUM)
Monte Carlo (MC) simulation techniques allow for the detailed modeling of the carrier transport in semiconductor structures. We discuss the application of the MC method to the simulation of quantum cascade lasers, serving as a typical example of nanostructured semiconductor devices relying on custom-tailored quantized electron states. Here we use a self-consistent ensemble MC method and show recently obtained results for terahertz quantum cascade lasers.
