Sergey Sindeev (TSTU): Experimental and numerical flow studies in the cerebral arteries with aneurysms (cancelled)
This is an external talk, invited by Benjamin Rüth. Sergey Sindeev, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Tambov State Technical University, Russia and he is currently also doing research at the Klinikum Rechts der Isar, department of Neuroradiology.
Modern biofluid mechanics examines and attempts to provide information on the local, time-dependent velocity and flow in the vessels, which are crucial for research of initialization and development of various cardiovascular disorders such as aneurysm, atherosclerosis etc. It is necessary to analyze the flow parameters pulsatility, elasticity (compliance) of the vessels wall and non-Newtonian viscoelastic flow behavior of blood for estimation of hemodynamics in regions prone to vascular diseases, since these hemodynamic parameters are important for the aneurysm genesis in addition to other factors. Therefore, a superposition of several factors like changes in vascular wall structure and hemodynamic factor could potentially cause aneurysm formation.
